I have a 5 MP camera and there is a lag of about 1 second between pressing the button and the shutter operating.
Useless for action shots.
Would a digital SLR solve this problem, or do i need to invest in a higher MP P&S camera?

This is the first time an HD web camera has been established on Kauai according to Ryan Wilmot of Kukui IT. The camera streams live on the Internet from http://www.balihai.com/Blog/kauai-hd-webcam/. An HD web camera provides high quality definition transmission and can be viewed on a variety of electronic devices such as cell phones, computers, ipads and televisions. According to avid waterman and Principal Broker, Michael Schmidt, We decided to establish a web camera to provide a 'live' response to calls and emails from Kauai visitors and friends about ocean conditions. Plus we can share this special place with those who love it but who cannot be here right now. While there are web cameras located at resorts in nearby Princeville, this is the first time a web camera has been established specifically to show beach conditions at Hanalei Pier, according to Schmidt.

In addition, Bali Hai Realty has established another web camera in Kilauea with views down the Anini Beach coastline towards Bali Hai (also known as Makana). The HD web cameras were activated in November by Kukui IT of Kapa'a, Kauai. Both cameras run continuously.
