What was the first digital camera released that could take pictures with as good or better quality than film?

i want to buy a digital camera that can take photos that look like the professional pics. the only problem is i dont know what is good and what isnt. im interested in an slr/dslr camera (dont really know the difference). can someone please give me some pointers on choosing a camera? what are some basic specs that i should look for?

I need to find a new digital camera that has a printer dock if possible and takes good pictures and videos. Right now I have a Kodak CX7300 and have read some bad reviews on kodak cameras and their lack of help online. so anyone out there know of any good ones?

I am looking for a digital camera that is easy to use for my grandparents. The camera should also have a good zoom and good picture quality. Please give me a list.
I also did some research and found Canon might be suitable. But I don’t know which type is easier, ELPH or A-Series?
